Drinking smoothies has a lot of benefits but obviously it matters what you put into them. If you use fresh and healthy ingredients they may benefit you but if you use unhealthy ingredients and add tons of sugar they probably won’t. So that’s something to keep in mind. Here are some of the benefits I feel in my personal experience after having daily healthy smoothies over the last few weeks.
A good way to get vitamins and nutrients
As all of us know we are supposed to consume tons of fruits and veggies in our diet to keep our bodies healthy and happy. Smoothies are a great way to consume ingredients you would otherwise avoid and gain the nutritional benefit of those ingredients. And they are very easy to make (if you have a blender).
It’s a great pick-me-up
I would normally drink coffee as a pick me up but I decided to give myself a deadline, no drinking coffee after 3 pm. So instead I make myself a smoothie and sip on that while I work. It definitely gives me a little boost if I find myself a little “yawny” in the late afternoon.
I feel fresher in the mornings
Sometimes I have more than one smoothie a day but most days I have one early in the morning. I feel it giving me a healthy boost of energy and clarity of mind. It’s very refreshing and nourishing so I feel healthier when I start my mornings knowing I’ve just given my body loads of good nutrients first thing.
I feel more energy throughout the day
Since I’ve started drinking healthy smoothies I consume more fruits and vegetables. I’ve noticed that my energy levels have become pretty stable throughout the day and I’ve just been feeling healthier in general.
I eat less bad stuff
I’ll admit that from time to time I go to the pantry and may grab an unhealthy snack. Ever since I added smoothies to my diet and realized how easy they are to make (just throw stuff into a blender) I don’t crave those unhealthy snacks because I feel satisfied with just having a smoothie.
It uses up ingredients
Making a smoothie is a great way to use ingredients that you have purchased but have forgotten to use and now are going bad. If you have an over ripe banana, throw it in a smoothie, if you have baby spinach going bad, wash them, separate the bad ones and use the good ones. It’s a great way to make the most of your ingredients if you didn’t really have a meal planned for them.
As you can see there are loads of great benefits to adding healthy smoothies into your diet. Those were just in my personal experience and I am sure there are tons of other benefits to them.

This is the easy healthy smoothie recipe that got me started on my daily smoothie consumption habit. It’s a delicious green smoothie that you should definitely try. It uses standard ingredients that can be bought pretty much at any grocery store. Feel free to play around with the measurements to your liking.
You are going to need:
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 cup almond milk (or low fat dairy if you prefer)
- 1 banana
- 1 tsp peanut butter
- 1 tsp honey
- 1/4 cup dry oats
- Ice cubes (optional)
Add all the ingredients into your blender and let it blend until it is nice and smooth. Fill up a mason jar or reusable to-go cup with ice, pour the smoothie and enjoy.
